Felix and later Dan, Dubravko, and John founded Group4 Labs just outside Stanford in mid 2003 with perhaps the naïve intent of doing some good in the world with their little knowledge-lot in life. That story is still being written. We, the founders and employees of the company, own 100% of the company.
Broadly, we aim to bring to commercial practice, innovative and unusual basic materials science ideas that can dramatically impact the way we live our lives. We're continuously looking for unmet needs in the world where we can make a difference.
Working over a period of two-and-a-half years mostly at the Stanford Nanofabrication facility – leveraging scores of years of combined experience, and with generous support from the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Eye Institute, the Department of Applied Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the U.S. Air Force Research Labs (AFRL), the Missile Defense Agency, and numerous commercial development contracts, we announced our first (beta) product in January 2006.
A few guiding principles shape our work everyday:
- we will cultivate an organization where exceptional professionalism is self-evident in all of our interactions with our customers, our partners, and our staff,
- we will enter markets where we feel we can make positive and meaningful contributions to the world,
- we will maintain a self-funded business plan at all times, and
- we will have fun every day that we operate as a business.
We firmly hope to make contributions to your life and your business that will be meaningful and lasting.
